Advisory Council

The Management Information Systems (MIS) program is actively supported by a group of senior MIS executives from companies who provide advice, expertise, and funding for special activities such as scholarships. These executives join students and faculty members in the effort to make the MIS Program the best in the Pacific Northwest.

Background. I am a graduate of OSU EE in 1971 with a Computer Science minor. I enjoyed computer programming and began my IS career in software development. After a few years I took a job as a supervisor which marked my switch to IT management. After completing my MBA at PSU in 1991, I became involved more with the Society for Information Management. At that point, I began to concentrate more on the management challenges of project teams and system change management. After many years at one of the local power utilities, I left for some smaller, more hands-on organizations and ended up here at Multnomah Athletic Club in 1999.

Also, Vice President of Riverside Window & Door, Inc. where I provide IT support and do PR.

Uwe G. Gluhr

Background. I graduated from OSU in 2001 from the College of Business (MIS) and minored in Computer Science. I moved to the Silicon Valley to work for Stryker Endoscopy.  A short year later, I began working for Deloitte's Consulting Practice in Seattle.  I focused on systems implementation and large scale enterprise systems. After two years at Deloitte, I moved to Phoenix to work for KPMG LLP's Information Risk Management practice as a consulting professional. I was engaged to perform SAS 70, Sarbanes Oxley, Systems Implementation, and Internal Audits. Finally, I moved to the Portland area to work for Stockamp & Associates as a Senior Products Analyst. At Stockamp, I manage a solution support (functional and technical) team that works with many of the largest hospitals around the United States.

Background. I graduated from OSU with a Computer Science degree with Business Minor in 1994. I went to work for Timberline Software as a software developer. As the years went on I found myself more interested in management and the business aspects of software development. I came back to OSU and graduated with my MBA in 1998. I worked for a three person startup Suvan LLC, and then shortly after went to work for WebMD as a Development Manager.

Damian Smith

Background. After a few years with Arthur Andersen in London, England, I spent the first half of my career in the European software industry, mostly in marketing and product management roles. About 10 years ago, I moved into technology consulting, setting up and running the UK internet consulting practice for Stream International. I moved to the US in 1998 and joined a small startup consulting firm in Dallas, TX called Tactica. About 18 months before Tactica was acquired by Hitachi in November 2001, I moved to Denver, CO to run our office there. In 2004 I relocated again, this time to Portland, OR. In addition to running our Portland office, I am also the Managing Vice President of our Corporate Management Solutions practice nationally.
